Beylerbeyi Stadyumu’nun bulunduğu arazide yer alan proje, yenilikçi bir kentsel tarım önerisi. Eco-Experience, Beylerbeyi’nin içinde kentsel bahçe olarak tanımlanan bir mekan yaratırken aynı zamanda tarımla uğraşan çiftçi, bilim adamı ve şehir sakinlerini aynı çatı altında toplamayı hedefliyor.

Located on a sloped landscape in Beylerbeyi Istanbul, Terraphase is a proposal for a novel solution in urban agriculture. Project aims to generate a single urban space in the city that is known as the ‘urban garden’ and brings scientists, farmers and the residents of the city together.

Araştırma birimleri, tohum saklama alanları, mikro-klima tarım alanları ve konut birimleri yaklaşık 12 bin metrekare büyüklüğündeki alana yayılmış durumda. Projenin en dikkat çekici mimari unsuru ise ana yetiştirme alanını üzerinde bulunduran devasa konsol. Yapının içinde iki farklı çeşitte sirkülasyon elemanı düşünülmüş. Binanın tüm kullanıcıları için tasarlanmış sarı renkli sirkülasyon tüpleri tüm sistemi dolaşırken, kapalı sirkülasyon koridorları yalnızca bilim adamları ve yapıda araştırma/yetiştirme yapan kişilerin kullanımı için yerleştirilmiş.

The 3-acre site is divided into parts according to their functions. Research units, seed storage areas, micro-climate cultivation regions, housing units are dispersed around the site. The most prominent aspect of the design is the cantilever which is the main cultivation space. Two kinds of circulation elements are used in the design. One, the tubular circulation throughout the system provides accessibility through the system for the public, whereas a private circulation is also designed for scientists and researchers.

Projenin önemli amaçlarından biri çeşitli tarım alanları üretmek. Mevcut stadyum arazisine yerleşen proje, konsol yapısı ile neredeyse tüm futbol sahasının tarım alanı olarak kullanılabilmesinin önünü açarken üzerinde bulunan açık ve yarı açık mekanlar sayesinde de farklı tarım alanları üretiyor. Projenin kuzey kısmında yer alan kapalı hacimler ise birbirine bağlanan araştırma birimleri olarak düşünülmüş.

The project aims to generate various cultivation spaces. While the design allows agricultural use of the whole football pitch, it also generates semi-open spaces within the building to grow plants. The closed volumes on the site are secluded for research. Those separate volumes are connected from the backbone of the building, which is embedded in the sloped landscape. The project creates typical cultivation units that can be applied to other projects and creates a novel method of agriculture.

Eco-Experience, ismini kullanıcılarına sunduğu deneyimlerin çeşitliliğinden alıyor. Kullanıcıların mekanı nasıl algıladıkları ana tasarım kriteri. Bu sayede proje yarattığı mimari zenginlik ile sürdürülebilirlik kültürü propagandası yapıyor. İstanbul’da yaşayan insanların sürdürülebilirliği, yeşili, kentsel tarımı canlı olarak deneyimleyebildikleri bir mekan hayal edilmiş. Bu sayede proje kentin pek çok unsurunu bir araya getirerek doğa dostu ve kümülatif bir kültür oluşturuyor.

The design is based on the experiences the building offers. The users’ perception of space is the main design criteria. Architecture is used as a way to promote sustainability. By focusing on the visitors and users, the project enhances a sustainability culture where people living in the city get accustomed to concepts like urban agriculture and sustainable solutions. The result is a hub that brings people together while producing for the city.
