<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Nakamura’nın tasarladığı cam bloklardan oluşan duvar cephe, hem yapıya ismini veriyor hem de böylesine merkezi bir lokasyonda evin içindeki mahremiyeti koruyor. Bu cam cephenin hemen arkasına ise tüm katlardan görülebilen bir bahçe yerleştirilmiş. Böylece tasarlanan cam duvar ve geniş bahçe evin içine sokaktan gelen ses ve görüntüyü filtreliyor ve oldukça sakin bir atmosfer oluşturuyor.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Optik cam cephe olarak adlandırılan evin caddeye bakan cephesi tam 6,000 cam bloğun bir araya gelmesiyle oluşuyor. 50mm x 235mm x 50mm ebatlarındaki her bir blok özel olarak üretilmiş. Cephede istenilen transparanlığı elde edebilmek için bloklar oldukça zor bir cam döküm işleminden geçirilmiş. Dökülen bloklar artık gerilmeyi önleyebilmek amacıyla yavaş soğutma işlemi ile soğutulmuş. Tüm bu işlemlere rağmen blokların yüzeylerinde ufak pürüzler meydana gelse de bu pürüzler beklenmedik optik ilüzyonlar ortaya çıkardığı için olduğu gibi bırakılmış.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Böylesine büyük bir cam cephenin ortaya çıkardığı bir başka sorun ise ağırlığı. Yaklaşık 13 ton ağırlığındaki cephenin nasıl taşıtılacağı Nakamura’nın önceliklerinden biri olmuş. Yalnızca beton bir kirişe bu cepheyi taşıtmak kiriş kesitini oldukça büyüteceğinden Nakamura alışılmışın dışında bir çözüm geliştirmiş. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Doğudan gelen güneş ışıkları oluşturulan bu cam cepheden kırılarak evin içine süzülüyor. Evin bahçesi yalnızca ses için değil, ışık ve rüzgar gibi unsurlar için de bir tampon bölge görevi görüyor. Böylece şehrin değişken modlarına ayak uydurabilen bir mekanlar bütünü çıkmış. İlk olarak inşa edilen çelik çerçevinin içine beton dökülerek çelik-betonarme bir kiriş sistemi oluşturulmuş.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Evin iç mekan organizasyonunun en temel unsuru olan bahçe 1. kattan başlıyor. İki kar yüksekliğindeki bahçenin hemen altında ise garaj var. 1. katta, bahçenin hemen arkasında ise açık bir yaşam alanı yer alıyor ve bu alan bahçeden yalnızca metal bir perde ile ayrılıyor. Bu perdenin hemen arkasında ise ikinci bir cam blok duvar yer alıyor.</span></p>

Hobi odası, Japon odası ve ek bir yatak odası giriş katta bulunurken en üst katta çocuk yatak odaları yer alıyor. Evin arka cephesinde ise ikinci bir avlu-bahçe daha var. Optical Glass House, Netflix’in yayınladığı The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes serisinde de yer alıyor.</span></p>

<p>İki merdivenin bir araya gelmesi, estetik kaygıların yanı sıra strüktürel olarak da şapelin ayakta durmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. İki merdiven birbirlerini destekleyerek, şapelin tek başına ayakta durabilmesini sağlamıştır.</p>

<p>Bu şapelin bir düğün şapeli olması da tasarımda büyük rol oynamıştır. Şapeli oluşturan iki merdiven, iki farklı hayatın birleşmesini sembolize etmektedir. İki merdiven, ilk adımlarında birbirlerinden uzak ve ayrı olsalar da 15 metrelik şapelin üst basamaklarına doğru ilerlerken gittikçe yaklaşmakta ve en sonunda birbirlerine kavuşmaktadır. Aynı zamanda şapelin yalın ve sade tasarımı da evliliğin saf ve temiz olması durumuna bir gönderme yapmaktadır.</p>

<p>İki merdivenin de ortak merdiven kovası olarak nitelendirilebilecek ortada yaratılmış alan, cam ile kaplanarak şapelin mihrabını ve koridorunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu hacmi çevreleyen iki merdiven ise, aynı zamanda şapelin duvarları, saçakları ve çatısını da oluşturmaktadır.</p>

<p>Yapının cephesi, ahşap panellerin titanyum-çinko alaşımlı kaplama malzemesi ile kaplanmıştır. Titanyum-çinko karışımı, yapının denize yakınlığından dolayı uğrayabileceği herhangi bir aşınmanın önüne geçilmek üzere seçilmiştir. Aynı zamanda kaplamanın beyaz rengi yine evliliğin saflığını yansıtmak ve yapıyı olabildiğince sade tutmak amacıyla tercih edilmiştir.</p>

<p>Ortadaki hacmi oluşturan cam bölümde kullanılan camlar farklı boyut, şekil ve kalınlıklarda kullanılmıştır. Japonya’nın sürekli deprem tehlikesi altında olması sebebiyle böyle bir karar alınmıştır.</p>
