					<description><![CDATA[<p>BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) tarafından tasarlanan ödüllü Danimarka Pavyonu Çin’in Şangay şehrinde düzenlenen Expo 2010 fuarında yer almış. BIG’in tasarımı sadece mimari ve yapısal açıdan değil aynı zamanda temsil ettiği Danimarka ruhu için de ilgi çekici olmuş.  Temel olarak  pavyon, ziyaretçilerin girişte mevcut olan 1500 bisiklet ile dolaştığı büyük bir döngü ve ziyaretçilerine Danimarka şehir yolunu deneyimleme şansı  tanıyor. Pavyonun merkezinde dünyanın en temiz sularından birine sahip olan Kopenhag Limanı’ndan getirilen su ile doldurulmuş büyük bir havuz bulunuyor ve ziyaretçiler bu havuzda yüzebiliyor. <p>Bjarke Ingels, Danimarka Pavyonu üzerinden sürdürülebilirlik kavramını sorguluyor. Sıcak su ile uzun duş alınmamalı, tatil için uzun uçuşlar yapılmamalı gibi &#8216;bir şeyin faydalı olabilmesi için acı vermesi gerek&#8217; yaklaşımını eleştiren Ingels, bu yaklaşımın sürdürülebilirliği sıkıcı bir kavram olarak gösterdiğini söylüyor. Bu bağlamda Ingels, sürdürülebilir tasarımların etkili olabilmesi için yalnızca politik ve ahlaki değerler çerçevesinde yapılmaması gerektiğini savunuyor. Sürdürülebilir tasarımlar, sürdürülebilir olmayan tasarımlara kıyasla daha çekici olabilmeyi başarmalı. BIG, Danimarka Pavyonu ile sürdürülebilir bir şehir olan Kopenhag&#8217;ın hayat kalitesini nasıl arttırabildiğini gösteren bir takım deneyimleri sergiliyor.</p>

<p>Brooklyn Köprüsü’nün New York için önemi çok büyüktür. Köprü, yalnızca Doğu Nehri’nin (East River) iki yakasını birbirine bağlayan bir ulaşım bağlantısı değil. Köprünün tamamlanması tüm dünyanın çelik kullanımına yaklaşımını değiştirdi ve asma köprü inşaatlarında bir devrim yarattı. New York’un günümüzdeki öneme sahip olmasında Brooklyn Köprüsü’nün oldukça büyük bir payı vardır.</p>

<p>Doğu Nehri’nin normal bir nehre göre oldukça zor koşullara sahip olması ve sürekli gel-git olaylarından etkilenmesi sebebiyle, 19 yüzyıla kadar New York ve Brooklyn iki ayrı şehir olarak düşünülürdü. Oysa New York en büyük, Brooklyn de en büyük 3. şehirdi ve iki şehir de hızla gelişiyordu. İki yaka arasındaki tek bağlantı ise işlevsiz, oldukça kalabalık ve güvenliksiz feribot seferleriydi. Bu nedenle bu iki yakanın birbirine bir köprü ile bağlanması 1800’lü yıllardan beri politikacıların rüyalarını süslüyordu.</p>
<p>İki yakayı bağlayan yeni bir köprü hem New York’un üzerindeki baskı ve kalabalığı alarak şehrin sorunlarını hafifletecek, hem de Brooklyn’i daha önemli ve değerli bir bölge haline getirecekti.</p>

<p>Bu süreç boyunca yıllarda ahşap köprü, zincirli asma köprüler ve yer altı tünelleri gibi pek çok fikir ortaya atıldı ancak bu fikirlerden hiçbiri Doğu Nehri’nin koşulları ile uyuşmuyordu. Nehir hem gelgitli bir yapıya sahipti, nehrin zemini bir köprü için  dönemin en gelişmiş ve derin <strong>keson temeline</strong> ihtiyaç duyuyordu ve nehir o dönemin en işlek su yollarından biriydi. Tüm bu olumsuz etmenler bir araya geldiğinde, köprü fikrinin hayata geçirilebilmesi için bir mimarlık ve mühendislik harikasına ihtiyaç vardı.</p>

<p>Aranan harika Roebling’in iki devasa Gotik kule arasına asılan asma köprü fikriydi. Roebling,nehrin işlek trafiğini engellememek için köprünün uzun ve yüksek olması gerektiğinin farkındaydı. Bu nedenle köprüyü tamamen yatay şekilde değil, nehrin ortasına doğru ilerledikçe yukarı doğru kıvrılacak şekilde tasarladı. Bu sayede köprünün nehir üzerindeki yükseliği 4 metre kadar artırılabildi.</p>

<p>Brooklyn Köprüsü, 486.3 metrelik bir açıklığı geçiyor ve 1903 yılına kadar bu alanda dünya rekorunu elinde bulundurdu. Köprünün toplam uzunluğu ise 1825 metre. Gotik kulelerin en yüksek noktası ise su seviyesinin tam 84 metre üstünde bulunuyor.</p>
<p>Köprü’nün neredeyse kıyıdan kıyıya, 500 metreye yakın bir açıklığı tek seferde geçmesi hiç kolay olmamış. Köprüyü taşıyan iki kulenin, hem köprüyü ayakta tutan 40 cm. kalınlığındaki çelik kablo halatların yükünü taşıyabilecek mukavemete, hem de köprüyü nehir trafiğine etkilemeyecek yüksekliğe çıkarabilecek dayanıklılığa sahip olması gerekiyordu. Granit ve kireç taşı kullanılarak inşa edilen ve bir katedral kadar heybetli yükselen Gotik kuleler, o dönemde New York’ta inşa edilen en büyük yapılardı.</p>

<p>Brooklyn Köprüsü’nün en özgün özelliklerinden biri, köprünün yayalar tarafından da kullanılabilmesi. Central Park’ı tasarlayan Fredrick Law Olmsted gibi, John Roebling de tasarladığı kentsel anıtın böylesine kalabalık bir şehir için tahmin edilemez bir önemi olacağını düşünüyordu. İnşa edilecek yeni köprü, New York’ta yaşayan insanlara temiz hava, ferahlık ve serbestlik vermeliydi. Bu nedenle Roebling, köprüye yükseltilmiş yaya yolları ekleyerek, Brooklyn Köprüsü’nü yalnız arabalara değil, şehrin tüm insanlarına açmış oldu.</p>
<p>Brooklyn Köprüsü, çeliğin kullanıldığı ilk köprü olarak tarihe geçti. Roebling’den önce hiçbir mimar ve mühendis, çeliğin köprülere getirebileceği potansiyeli fark etmemişti. Bu bağlamda Roebling, inşaat dünyasında bir devrim yaratmış oldu. Roebling’den önce pek çok mimar çeliğin strüktürel dayanıklılığını sorguluyordu. Ancak, Brooklyn Köprüsü gibi devasa bir yapının ayakta durduğunu görmek, dünya çapında çelik kullanımının yaygınlaşmasına yol açtı.</p>

<p>Şikago şehrinin en önemli yapılarından 860-880 Lake Shore Drive, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe tarafından tasarlanan bir ikiz gökdelen. 82 metre yüksekliğinde, 26 kattan oluşan bu iki gökdelen çelik ve cam ağırlıklı olarak 1949-1951 yılları arasında inşa edildi. Mimarlığın endüstriyel dünyaya açılmasının öncülerinden olan yapı, II. Dünya Savaşı sonrası yüksek konut yapıları anlayışını değiştiriyor.</p>

<p>860-880 Lake Shore Drive, Michigan Gölü’nün kıyısında, Lake Shore Drive caddesi üzerinde üçgen bir arazi üzerinde bulunuyor. Mies van der Rohe’nin mimari proje alanından bağımsız olması ilkesi üzerine yapı kendi mimari kurallarına göre proje alanını yeniden tanımlayan bir yapıya sahip. Üçgen arazi üzerine 90 derecelik açı ile birbirlerine çapraz şekilde konumlandırılan iki bina, bu sayede Michigan Gölü’nün ve Şikago şehri manzarasına hâkim. Aynı zamanda iki binanın dik olarak bir araya gelmesi, giriş katında kapalı bir meydan oluşmasını sağlıyor.</p>

<p>Mies’in <em>bağımsız mimari</em> konsepti yapının zemin katında hissedilebiliyor. Yapının zemin katı yükseltilerek gökdelenlere adeta havada duruyorlar izlenimi verilmiş. İki bina arasındaki zemin kot bağlantısı tek fonksiyonu<em> ‘alanın maneviyatını işaretlemek’</em> olan yatay bir çatı ile sağlanmış.</p>

<p>Yapının plan şeması 6,4 metre aralıklı bir kare grid sistem üzerine kurgulanmış. Gridin kesişim noktalarına çelik kolonlar yerleştirilmiş. Mies, yapının taşıyıcı iskeletinin iç mekanlarda kendini göstermesini istemiş. Her ne kadar bu karar dönemin yangın yönetmeliklerine aykırı olsa da Mies beton kabukları çelik plakalar ile kaplayarak kullandığı çelik kolonların bütünlüğünü sağlamış ve aynı zamanda tasarımını yangın yönetmeliğine uydurabilmiş.</p>

<p>860-880 Lake Shore Drive’ın önemli özelliklerinden biri de prefabrike parçalar ile inşa edilmiş olması. Cephe inşası sırasında, 4 pencereli birimler tasarlanmış ve bu birimler yukarıdan iki kolon arasında takılarak cepheye yerleştirilmiş. Bu sayede birbirine kontrast oluşturan siyah çelik ve cam elemanlar tekrar ederek cephede şık bir örüntü oluşturmuş.</p>

<p>Mies, yapının inşa edilebilirliğini tasarımın en önemli parametrelerinden biri haline getirmiş. Böylece yapının kusursuz grid tasarımı ortaya çıkmış. Taşıyıcı sistemden, cephe detaylarına; pencere kayıtlarından iç mekan organizasyonuna kadar 860-880 Lake Shore Drive tamamıyla kusursuz bir düzene sahip.</p>

Dış duvarlar yerine koyulmaya başladığında, tamamen sanatsal tasarıma dayanan strüktürel sistem, anlamsızlık kaosunun ve entipüften formların arkasına saklanır. Bu eski formların sorunlarını çözmekle uğraşmak yerine, çok yeni sorunların niteliğinden yeni formlar geliştirmeliyiz. Dış duvarlar yerine bina iskeletini hafiflettiği için bugün daha kullanışlı olan cam kullanıldığında, yeni strüktür prensiplerini net bir şekilde görebiliriz. <p class="p4"><span class="s1">Bu fikirler doğrultusunda, van der Rohe’nin kafasında bir modern gökdelen kurgusu vardır. Bu kurgu Seagram Binası ile hayat bulmuştur. Mies van der Rohe, Pritzker ödüllü ünlü mimar Phillip Johnson ile bir araya gelerek Seagram Binası’nı tasarlamıştır. Yapının giydirme bronz ve siyah renkli camdan oluşan cephe tasarımı, gökdelenin en üst noktasına kadar devam etmektedir. Bu cephe tasarımı, yapının üzerine oturduğu alanın geniş granit zemini ile birbirlerini tamamlamaktadır.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span></span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Gökdelenin yapımı toplam 36 milyon dolara malolmuştur ve bu bağlamda zamanının en pahalı yapılarından biridir. Binanın inşasında kullanılan malzemelerin kalitesinin yüksek tutulması ve gökdelene katılan modern detaylar, yapıyı özel kılmaktadır. Yapının iç dekorasyonunda bronz, mermer ve traverten taşı gibi önemli ve şık malzemeler tercih edilmiştir.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Seagram Binası’nın en önemli tasarım detaylarından biri cephesi. Mies van der Rohe, istediği dış görünüşü sağlayabilmek için yapının cephesini oldukça detaylı bir şekilde tasarlamış. Gökdelenin cephesinde dikey olarak devam eden bronz elemanlar aslında taşıyıcı özelliğe sahip değil. Ancak mimar, bu bronz cephenin taşıyıcvı bir iskeletmiş gibi görünmesini istemiş. Mies van der Rohe her ne kadar süsten uzak, yalın bir mimari dile sahip olsa da yapının bu kısmında, bronz cephe elemanlarını bir süs parçası olarak kullanmış. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Lobinin üstündeki ofis alanlarının dekorasyonu Phillip Johnson tarafından yapılmış. Esnek kat planlarına sahip olan bu ofis alanları kullanım şekline göre değişiklik gösterebiliyor. Cephede kullanılan gri topaz cam kaplama sayesinde, ofis alanları zeminden çatıya kadar uzanan pencerelere sahip. Bu geniş pencereler, çalışma mekanlarının içine olabildiğince gün ışığı alınmasını sağlıyor. Gri topaz aynı zamanda ısı ve güneş korunumu da sağlamakta. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Mies van der Rohe, Seagram Binası’nı üzerinde bulunduğu caddenin yaklaşık 30 metre gerisine taşıyarak, gökdelenin altında kamusal bir meydan oluşturmuştur. Binanın Manhattan’ın en işlek caddelerinden biri üzerinde bulunması, bu kamusal meydanın önemini daha da arttırmakta. Meydana yerleştirilen iki çeşme ise bu alana daha da çekicilik katıyor. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Seagram Binası, Kanada’lı Seagram &amp; Sons firması için tasarlanmış bir ofis binası. Ancak yapıyı pek çok önemli firma ve kuruluş aynı anda kullanmakta. Yapı, pek çok kurumsal şirkete ev sahipliği yapıyor. Yapı günümüzde hala New York’un en önemli mimari eserlerinden biri olarak anılıyor.</span></p>
